AppState has the ability to deploy Apps from Apple's App Store (for Mac, iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch) on University-owned and managed devices. Follow these steps to request to have a free or paid Apple deployed to your device(s).

Apps can only be distributed to University-owned devices that are managed in Jamf Pro. We cannot distribute these to personal or non-managed devices at this time.

Step-by-step guide

Obtaining Licenses for Paid Apps

If you are requesting deployment of an App that is not free, you must use the following guide to purchase licenses before requesting deployment: Obtain Licenses of Apps from the App Store for Deployment


  1. Submit a "Computer Assistance" support request at tech.appstate.edu with the following information:
    1. In the summary: Deploy App Store App to Managed Devices
    2. In the description provide:
      1. List the managed devices that need the App deployed:
        1. For individual devices, provide the serial number of each device.
        2. For groups of multiUser devices, provide the name of the group (e.g. MATH-FacStaff-Checkout or COE-3200-Cart).
      2. The name of the app (e.g. Evernote)
      3. A direct link to app: (eg. https://volume.itunes.apple.com/us/app/evernote/id281796108?term=evernote&ign-mpt=uo%3D4)
        1. To get the direct link, first go to https://volume.itunes.apple.com.

        2. Use the Media Type drop down to select which device type the App is for.

        3. Enter the App name in the search bar and click Search.

        4. Click on the app you want deployed to your devices.

        5. While on the page for the App you want, copy the URL from your browser and paste it into the request.
