Congratulations on your new job at Appalachian State University!
Date/Time/Location
Please plan to attend required New Employee Orientation training on August 15th from 09:00 to 12:00 PM in the 421 Broyhill Room in the Belk Library (hyperlink to Belk Library Map). A continental breakfast will be provided. Our Benefits team will also be available to answer questions. You will also receive a guided tour of the bookstore where you can get your AppCard photo ID (click here for procedures to submit a photo online) and register for parking.
I-9 Verification Documents
on date from time in location. In addition to these topics covered in orientation, bring this email with the information below and the two attached documents to orientation.
I-9 Verification and Employee Self-Service Forms
Please refer to your New Hire Appointment Letter for all the information about completing your I9 verification through Equifax. Section 1 of Form 1-9 must be completed by or on your first day of work, and Section 2 of Form I-9 must be completed by your third day of employment. This is a federal regulation; you cannot return to work if it is not completed on time.
Please don't forget to enter your taxes, direct deposit, and check to make sure your mailing address is accurate in the employee self-service area.
If you have any questions about Form I-9 or the self-service forms, please contact Deanna Eirich at [email protected] or 828-262-6769 and she will gladly assist you. An HR representative will be available at the beginning of the New Employee Orientation to complete the required in-person ID verification requirement for the I-9 Employment Eligibility form. Please bring acceptable (original) forms of identification with you to Orientation.
Parking Options
There are four options for parking:
Your manager is copied on this email and invited to attend all or part of this training to learn more about the important role they play in supporting your onboarding process beyond the orientation session. In particular, they will take you to get your App State ID card on the second floor of the Campus Store, help you with parking allocations, and learn how to help you successfully complete the 90-day New Employee Orientation and Onboarding course in AsULearn, App State’s learning management system. (Please note this course is NOT the same as the People Admin Onboarding Portal where you upload new hire forms such as tax documents.)
I look forward to meeting you at orientation!
