Jamf Connect is new federated login system for Macs that uses Microsoft's Azure AD for identity and access management. It allows for on demand account creation and keeps your Mac's local password in sync with your AppState password. This article will detail how Jamf maintains synchronous passwords after a password change occurs.

Step-by-step guide

There two ways Jamf Connect will maintain your passwords, depending on how your password change has occurred.

  1. A password change through Jamf Connect:
    1. The Jamf Connect icon is in the menu bar in the top right of your desktop screen, and it provides a helpful link to AppState's Password Manager.
  2. A password change through your web-browser:
    1. If you change your password while not logged in to your University-managed Mac, Jamf Connect will sync your password upon your next login.
    2. Sign in with your new password through the Jamf Connect Login screen, and it will ask you to verify your network password.
    3. Jamf Connect will notify you that your passwords are out of sync, and have you re-enter your previous password for verification.
