Employees receive an invitation for in-person new employee orientation from firstname.lastname@example.org notifying them of the date, time, location, and parking instructions. Managers are copied on the invitation and encouraged to attend orientation to learn more about the important role they play in supporting the new employee's onboarding process beyond the orientation session.
Email Invitation to New Employee Orientation
Congratulations on your new job at Appalachian State University!
Please plan to attend required New Employee Orientation training on August 15th from 09:00 to 12:00 PM in the 421 Broyhill Room in the Belk Library (hyperlink to Belk Library Map). A continental breakfast will be provided. Our Benefits team will also be available to answer questions. You will also receive a guided tour of the bookstore where you can get your AppCard photo ID (click here for procedures to submit a photo online) and register for parking.
I-9 Verification Documents
An HR representative will be available at the beginning of the New Employee Orientation to complete the required in-person ID verification requirement for the I-9 Employment Eligibility form. Please bring acceptable (original) forms of identification with you to Orientation.
There are four options for parking:
If you reply to this email with your automobile license plate number, you may park for free in the College Street Parking Deck (hyperlink to College Street Parking Deck Map).
You may take free public transportation on the AppalCart (hyperlink to AppalCart) to the ASU College Street Station.
Ask your manager for a visitor parking pass (hyperlink to Parking - Visitor Events) for parking in any ungated lot or the River Street Parking Deck (hyperlink to River Street Parking Deck Map) and to escort you to the training room.
Your manager is copied on this email and invited to attend all or part of this training to learn more about the important role they play in supporting your onboarding process beyond the orientation session. In particular, they will learn how to help you successfully complete the 90-day New Employee Orientation and Onboarding course in AsULearn, App State’s learning management system. (Please note this course is NOT the same as the People Admin Onboarding Portal where you upload new hire forms such as tax documents.)
