Yes. The annual performance plan and probationary plan serve separate purposes.
Annual Performance Plan
App State is required to submit overall performance evaluation ratings to the Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) and the UNC System Office on employees who are employed at least 6 months of the performance cycle (April - March). The manager must hold a performance plan discussion individually with each employee and put a performance plan in place within 60 calendar days after:
Probationary Plan
New or returning employees subject to the Human Resources Act are "at-will" during the first 12 months of employment. OSHR refers to this period as the "probationary period". A "probationary plan" should be developed within 60 days of hire. This plan provides the opportunity to set clear goals and expectations and provides an opportunity for frequent feedback while determining if there is a good fit between the employee and University.
