The final step in the annual performance appraisal is for the employee to "acknowledge" that the performance appraisal meeting with their manager has occurred, and enter comments in the Performance Management module of Careers.AppState.edu.

IMPORTANT: Selecting the "acknowledge" button does not mean you agree with the manager's performance appraisal comments or scores. Disagreement may be documented in the comments field.

A career state employee, (defined as a SHRA employee in a permanent position who has been continuously employed by the university for the immediate 12 preceding months) may formally "grieve" an overall performance rating of "does not meet expectations”. A grievance must be filed within 15 calendar days of receiving the rating. The grievance policy may be found by clicking this link: https://oshr.nc.gov/media/3432/open. Employees are encouraged to contact Employee Relations for more information about the grievance process.
