Appalachian State University's Writing Across the Curriculum Program is committed to supporting faculty as they strive to use writing in inclusive ways in their classrooms. In addition to our dedicated Trauma-Informed Pedagogy resources, we have also collected and/or created a variety of resources, which are available below, and we are happy to work with individual faculty or departments to ensure that writing opportunities across our campus are designed to support rather than undermine student learning.

Trauma-Informed Pedagogy

In response to what we recognize as a growing need among our students and colleagues in higher education, the Writing Across the Curriculum Program is working to bring trauma-informed pedagogical policies and practices to our university. Although this work was initiated prior to the Spring 2020 semester, it seems even more important given the world we find ourselves navigating now. Therefore, this page of our website is dedicated to collecting and sharing resources about trauma-informed pedagogy. For more information about our resources or to submit a resource to be shared on this page, please contact Sarah Zurhellen.
