Institutional affiliation for active temporary employees for positions advertised for non-students (Temps)

Role process

Data Structure

  • This is an active affiliation role. Users within the validity window have active birthright entitlements.
  • Temporary Employees are non-permanent state workers hired for a limited term (often under 11-12 months)
  • Banner flags temporary employees with the affiliation role "Temp."
  • Temporary employees will very rarely be the user's primary affiliation.
  • The Staff and Faculty primary affiliation roles determine the user's university access.
    • If Temp is displayed as the user's primary affiliation, they will likely not have access to campus resources (e.g. printing, Adobe suite, etc.).

Activation

  • Temp employee access may precede their employment start date by two days at most.
  • Human Resources handles the entry and email notification of the new account.
  • New account notification is sent to the user and their supervisor outside of Bravura.

External access

  • Temp employee access to services external to Shibboleth are the responsibility of their departmental supervisor.
  • Banner Admin access may be requested via the Request Banner Account Options Jira form.

Departure

  • Temp employee departure parallels that of Staff.
  • Unlike Staff, temp employees do not work a full 12 months. During their time away, their account is deactivated. It will be re-enabled by HR on their return.
